Such a relief to fall into reading this today. “A place where language isn’t being used to hector or diminish us, but where truth and enquiry can happen.” Oh Kathleen, your words resonate in so many ways.
As I write I find it roots me deeper into place, sharpening my attention beyond my visual art. I am grateful for the opportunity it provides to rebalance, and find myself increasingly turning to the poets writing here for the same reason. Thank you from this corner in northeast Scotland. I am looking forward to seeing where your collective takes us.
“God knows,” eh? (A very Canadian “eh”.) Well, yes, exactly, precisely: God does know. Or I should think he does! It’s for the rest of us to toil over just how to answer such a question, though I will say you’ve done a splendid job of it. So glad to encounter Karen Solie in particular amongst the NSP. Onwards!
What's the purpose of a multifunctional tool and the person who knows how to wield it? It depends on the particular problem to which you are attending.
Somehow I don't think we're ever going to see an end to the 'poetry of the self', or have poets given back the job of speaking for the masses, and I think it's best to come to terms with that.

Well that was an agreeable start. I look forward to catching up.
